The musicians Pekka Pentikäinen and Antti Soininen have worked together for a long time. They are known in Finland for, amongst other things, their contributions to the Pirnales-ensemble and the Katrilli dance group. Both have studied folk music and classical music. Their new compositions for this CD combine both worlds, the lively and fresh attitude of folk music and the ambitious interpretation and skilful expression of art music. Mr. Mäläskä is a continuous dialogue between accordion and violin - it is a rich discussion in the language of music. Mr. Mäläskä is dedicated to new northern instrumental music that is inspired by tradition and landscape.
