Munniharppuuna

Tapani Varis
16
This record contains both traditional tunes from Finland, Norway and Ingria as well as new compositions. Most of the Norwegian tunes belong to their Jew's harp tradition. The Finnish and Karelian tunes have been gathered from violinists, flutists and players of jouhikko.

This is Tapani Varis' first solo album. It is also the first record in Finland ever released with the Jew's harp as the principal instrument. The exciting sound of the Jew's harp is familiar to many, but few people know that this small gadget also makes a fine solo instrument. This recording by Tapani Varis will dismiss all prejudices.
