Polska differente
Here it finally is. The result of eight years of planning, composing, arranging, writing lyrics and rehearsing. I begun to dream of my own solo album already in 1986. My engagements with other groups (JPP, Niekku, Tallari, Koinurit, Salamakannel, Aldargaz, Pinnin Pojat, Ampron Prunni and The Helsinki Mandoliners) have kept me from realizing the dream until now. But it does not really matter, because during this time my repertoire has been enriched by many new pieces.
From traditional works I have chosen pieces from the repertoires of my great favourites Johannes Järvelä, Elias Tallari, Torsten Pärus, Valter Enlund and Otto Hotakainen. It has been my great pleasure and priviledge to have played with almost all of these brilliant musicians. The modern pieces on this album are mostly my own compositions from the years 1986-1993. I wrote the first version of Wäinön haikara (Wäinö's stork) already in 1986. The latest piece Eri polska (Polska Differente) was written in the spring of 1993.
My warmest thanks to all the guest musicians, who made this recording exceed all expectations.
