1966

I graduated with my Master's Degree in Music in the Department of Folk Music, Sibelius Academy in 1995. The same year saw the release of my solo album Paljastuksia (Revelations). In 1995–1999, I worked as a lecturer in folk music in the Central Ostrobothnia Conservatory. I currently work as International Coordinator in the Music and Performing Arts unit in the Central Ostrobothnia Polytechnic.

I mix ancient and modern, Finnish and cosmopolitan elements in my music. The Finnish lines embody echoes from all over the world: concert tours in Japan, India, China, the United Kingdom, Iceland, Estonia and Russia have provided motifs for my music. I regularly perform both as a soloist and in different productions with other musicians and dancers. My partners have included British zither player Andrew Cronshaw, French musician-producer Hector Zazou, Icelandic sound artist Nína Björk Elíasson and guitarist Jukka Tolonen, as well as dancers Ari Numminen and Minna Tervamäki.
