Vilma Timonen

Vilma Timonen is diversely skilled kantele player. Besides solo performances, she is versed in the ways of using kantele in ensembles. One of these is the 'electric kantele', and Timonen herself is one of the pioneer players.

Timonen has contributed to the development of pedagogical aspects for the electric kantele in Kantele project, implemented in Northern Karelia. She has trained children, groups and group leaders and produced related learning material. She currently teaches the kantele at the Department of Folk Music, Sibelius Academy.
