\nname, but your smile is gone.”<\/p>\n

Echoes of the early 1940s Vyborg in this jewel of a song by Anna-Mari
\nK\u00e4h\u00e4r\u00e4. Eeva-Liisa Manner was only 19 years old when she wrote this poem.<\/p>\n

”Walk away, run if you have to… he just isn’t the one for you, you need something more:” A song about a woman leaving a destructive relationship.<\/p>\n

5. Rannalla (On the Shore) (1990)<\/strong>

”Rannalla”; the winner of the 1990 tango composition competition held at the Tango Festival in Sein\u00e4joki, has been enormously popular ever since.<\/p>\n

6. Suomorsian (Swamp Bride) (2009)<\/strong>

A man wanders through a burning forest to mourn at his bride’s grave. When he gets there he discovers that there is a wild party going on \u2013 and the bride herself rising from the swamp with burning lips of heather, breasts of rosin and a fire between her thighs. Johanna’s first composition for Unto, and it fits like a glove!<\/p>\n

7. Y\u00f6 ikkunan takana (Night Behind the Window) (1963)<\/strong>

A lesser-known and rarely performed masterpiece by Unto Mononen, the master of Finnish tango. A powerful melody with lyrics full of colour and magic of the night.<\/p>\n

8. Tangon kotimaa (Homeland of Tango) (1996)<\/strong>

A young man escapes hard times by taking a long and exhausting voyage \u2013 without any booze or women \u2013 across the Atlantic Ocean to South America. When they finally gets to the harbour in Buenos Aires he heads straight for a bar, picks up a beautiful brunette, gets completely wasted \u2013 and then proceeds to show the
\nArgentinians how to dance the tango the Finnish way.<\/p>\n

9. Min\u00e4 rakastan sinut (I love… )(2009)<\/strong>

The title of the song defies translation! Min\u00e4 rakastan sinua means I love you, but Min\u00e4 rakastan sinut is something completely different! Well, it is still all about love – and the various aspects of it.<\/p>\n

10. Sateen tango (Tango in the Rain) (1963)<\/strong>

A quiet tango ringing in the rain… Longing for a love lost-this time on a rainy night. A popular Mononen classic
\nfrom the height of the 1960s tango boom.<\/p>\n

11. Satakielelle (To the Nightingale) (2002)<\/strong>
\nComp. Anna-Mari K\u00e4h\u00e4r\u00e4, poem Viljo Kajava (1909-1998), arr. Tango-orkesteri Unto.<\/p>\n

This haunting poem can often be found in obituaries. The narrator in the poem knows that it will soon be his time te depart, so he asks the nightingale to sing what he has left unsung.<\/p>\n

12. Hektinen hetki (Hectic Moment) (2009)<\/strong>

A hectic moment when everything happens in ’fast forward’ and in high energy mode!<\/p>\n

13. Pajupensas (Willowbush) (2009)<\/strong>

The story of a young love as beautiful and brief as the summers in Finland. Timo’s composition captures the bitter-sweet beauty of the poem.<\/p>\n

Tango-orkesteri Unto \u2013 suomalaisen tangon unelmajoukkue<\/p>\n

Suomalaisen tangon kaiho, melankolia ja intohimo soivat v\u00e4kevin\u00e4 Tango-orkesteri Unton musiikissa. Timo Alakotilan luotsaamat virtuoosit nostavat suomitangon uusiin ulottuvuuksiin vivahteikkailla ja heitt\u00e4ytyvill\u00e4 tulkinnoillaan sek\u00e4 ikivihreist\u00e4 ett\u00e4 upouusista tangoista. Yhtyeen j\u00e4senet ovat Suomen eturivin muusikoita, joiden monipuolinen tausta, kansanmusiikista jazziin ja improvisoituun musiikkiin, teatterimusiikista tango nuevoon, kuuluu Unton soitossa vaikutteiden rikkautena, soittamisen vapautena ja tulkinnan syvyyten\u00e4. Suomalaisen tangon suurmiehen Unto Monosen mukaan nimetty Tango-orkesteri Unto perustettiin vuonna 1998. Yhtyeen ensiesiintyminen tapahtui Lissabonin EXPO ’98 -maailmann\u00e4yttelyss\u00e4, jossa sen tulkinnat suomalaisista tangoista saivat kansainv\u00e4liselt\u00e4 yleis\u00f6lt\u00e4 innostuneen vastaanoton. Yhtye on sittemminkin konsertoinut l\u00e4hinn\u00e4 ulkomailla.<\/p>\n

Unton ensilevy, Finnish Tango, ilmestyi ARC:n julkaisemana 2003. Ohjelmiston p\u00e4\u00e4paino oli suomitangon klassikoissa ja levyll\u00e4 kuultiinkin useita Unto Monosenja Toivo K\u00e4rjen tunnetuimpia tangoja. Uudella levyll\u00e4\u00e4n Tango-orkesteri Unto katsoo rohkeasti tulevaisuuteen, perinteit\u00e4 kunnioittaen. Mukana on edelleen rakastettuja ikivihreit\u00e4, mutta valtaosa ohjelmistosta on uutta, suomalaisesta lyriikasta innoituksensa saanutta musiikkia. Anna-Mari K\u00e4h\u00e4r\u00e4n, Jussi Tuurnan ja Unton omien s\u00e4velt\u00e4jien Timo Alakotilan ja Johanna Juholan s\u00e4vellyksiss\u00e4 soi runollisena modernin tangon tunteen palo. Suomalainen tango voi hyvin ja el\u00e4\u00e4 vahvana Tango-orkesteri Unton k\u00e4siss\u00e4!<\/p>\n
